JOIN THE TEAM AS METRO CELEBRATES ITS 60th ANNIVERSARY

In celebration of 60 years and over 530 productions, Metro Theatre is seeking a number of paid part-time production positions to support the 14,000 hours of estimated volunteer hours necessary to mount the coming season. These part-time positions have some flexibility for adapt to personal schedules and work environments will be limited to small and distanced teams or individuals.

Show TD

Part-time September 10 – April 30th
Budget 40 -50 Hours/Show for 7 shows @$25/hr to include production meetings, load-in, and Strike. Typical Schedule would be 7 – 10 days from load-in to opening. Set Strikes generally coincide with Load-in day.

Reports to GM

Responsible for but not limited to:

  1. Attend Production meetings and be familiar with the technical requirements and technical schedule for each Metro show.
  2. Advise and adjust show requirements to conform to Metro time and budget constraints.
  3. Maintain theatre safety requirements for cast, crew, and the public.
  4. Be available to load-in as scheduled
  5. Set up, focus, and program Show lighting design as required
  6. Load, program and set up Show sound design as required
  7. Train and support volunteer show crew and operators
  8. Put show and house in performance state of readiness before the first public performance
  9. Periodically check technical assets during show run and maintain as required
  10. Be available for strike and removal of technical assets as scheduled at the end of the rum
  11. Possible extra hours required for Rentals and Touring productions.

Set Decorator

Part-time September – April 30th. Typical Schedule would be flexible to load-in and 8-12 hours on set in the week before opening.

Budget 40 average hours/show @$21.50/hr. x 7 shows

Reports to TD and GM

Responsible for but not limited to:

  1. Attending scheduled production meetings as required by Producer and TD
  2. Coordinate and source all set decorating items and arrange for delivery to the production and their return after the production wraps.
  3. Adhere to the production set decorating budget as approved by the GM and Producer
  4. Be present to Organize and Supervise the Load-in and Strike of each production
  5. Arrange and schedule sufficient hours with the TD for final set decoration during the Show set up.

Extra Budgeted Hours with approval of GM

Scenic Painter

Part-time September – April 30th . Typical Schedule would be flexible and coordinated with set carpenter in the shop during construction and after load-in 12-15 hours on set in the week before opening to finish

Budget 40 average hours/show @$21.50/hr. x 7 shows

Reports to TD and GM

Responsible for but not limited to:

  1. Attending scheduled production meetings as required by Producer, TD and set designers
  2. Coordinate and source all set paint, and equipment required
  3. Adhere to the production set painting budget as approved by the GM and Producer
  4. Pre-paint the set as much as possible before Load-in/Set-up Week
  5. Inventory and safely store or dispose of left over paint.

Extra Budgeted Hours with approval of GM

Publicity Assistant
(Social Media Specialist)

Understands different social media channels and the tools used for corporate branding.  IMAGING (Photo & Video) (8-10 hrs per show- Sept. 15- April 15) @ $18/hr for website and social media postings. Hours determined by production requirements. Typical schedule would include early promo images/video during rehearsal, production images during dress rehearsal for each show.

  1. Under direction of publicist, manage and take show photography or video, and publicity tasks as required. Including but not limited to Web site updates, social media postings, and e-mail blasts for each show
  2. Gather and edit images and video from publicity liaison during rehearsal period.
  3. Edit and distribute or post publicity images as required by publicist.
  4. Assemble and edit Power-point Presentation for to run on Lobby Monitors during performances.
