Where: Metro Theatre, 1370 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver

 

Synopsis:

Bernard has foolishly asked his mistress, Brigit, to his home on her birthday despite the fact his wife Jacqueline is present. He has also invited his oldest friend, Robert and asks him to pretend Brigit is his mistress. Robert refuses as he is having an affair with Jacqueline, but Bernard cunningly involves him anyway. By chance, a temporary maid engaged for the evening arrives when Jacqueline and Bernard are out and her name is also Brigit. Robert mistakes her for Bernard’s girlfriend. Frantic complications in which identities, plots and counter plots and bedrooms are exchanged with ever increasing confusion transpire until an unexpected ending makes everyone happy including the maid who has acquired a mink coat and lots of money. A long running success in London.

Characters Needed

3-female; 2-male – casting open to all ethnicities

Jacqueline (F, 30-55) – Refined, frustrated, in love with Robert despite being married to Bernard

Robert (M, 30-55) – Successful, reluctant to get involved in Bernard’s schemes, but who’s having an affair with Jacqueline

Bernard (M, 30-55) – Gregarious, sly, foolhardy, is having an affair with Bridget 2

Brigit 1 (F, 25-40) – Down to Earth, outgoing, the housekeeper for the weekend who’s not afraid to put the screws to somebody when it’s needed

Brigit 2 (F, 25-40) – Snobbish model who is not useful in the kitchen

 

Rehearsal period:

  3 times per week November through until opening night

 

Requirements: Auditions will be cold readings from the script; the director will choose which scenes the actors will read.

Notes: This is a NON-EQUITY production.
*English accents preferred, but not required

All roles at Metro Theatre, are Volunteer positions.

People will be seen by appointment only– 2 actors in 20 minute time slots, to allow for appropriate physical distancing.

Auditions will be by APPOINTMENT ONLY; ‘sides’ can be printed at home to bring with you to audition.

  • Director, Kayt Roth, will reply to your submission to schedule your appointment time and email you the SIDES for the characters you wish to audition for.

COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN PROTOCOLS for AUDITIONS

Let’s work together to keep our community safe and protect production staff , performers and volunteers:

  • Auditions are by appointment only
  • Please comply with the signage posted in the lobby stating current physical distancing guidelines  as set by the Provincial Health Authority.
  • You are encouraged to wear a mask
  • Hand sanitizer is available in the lobby, please use it prior to entry to the auditorium
  • Washrooms are cleaned and disinfected prior and after each session
  • Doors to access the auditorium are left open to minimize the handling of door handles
  • Lobby maximum occupancy – 6 (including production manager)
  • Pens and clipboards to be wiped down before and after each use.
  • Audition forms along with resumes and headshots to be placed in ‘sheet protectors’
  • ‘Sides’ in sheet protectors instead of the scripts; recommended: that sides be printed from home to bring to the audition
  • Upon arrival the actor will be allocated a seat, to provide physical distancing; each performer will immediately proceed to the auditorium.
  • All items ‘packed in’ to the theatre are to be ‘packed out’ at the end and/or placed in the appropriate trash receptacle
  • Common sense, mutual respect, and genuine care for each other inform our decisions regarding health and safety for one another.
