Murder by Misadventure

What happens when two writers who have worked together for years start to hate each other? The team has won awards and made money. Harry Kent has saved, invested and now lives with his glamorous wife in a sun drenched luxury flat high above the coast, where the play is set. It is a hi tech paradise with only one snag: it’s build on the site of an Ancient British sacrificial stone where black magic was practiced and now there are strange noises in the night. Paul Riggs has spent his fees on booze and birds, and he lives in dread of bookies’ heavies. Harry wants to break the partnership that is Paul’s lifeline, but Paul knows a sinister secret from Harry’s past. They are therefore locked together in a dance from which murder seems the only escape and they have just plotted the perfect crime for their latest TV film.

Murder by Misadventure runs at the Metro Theatre from April 8th to 24th with Opening Night on April 9th. Show times are Wednesday to Saturday at 8:00 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are priced from $34 and available through the Metro Theatre Box Office at 604-266-7191 or online.

Our COVID pandemic was characterized by BOREDOM. Binge-watching costume dramas (even in foreign languages, or streamed zoom affairs) was a norm. Live theatre returns us all to life as we knew it. Real people acting their hearts out, possibly forgetting a line and even more horrifically fall off the stage, l interacting with audience reactions! And what could be more engaging than a thriller? Strong willed characters doing dirty on one another as the audience guesses as to who’s going to get their comeuppance in the end. The plot has more twists than an Italian coastal road.

Come and join us because we are dying to thrill you!.

Directors Talk

Join director Alison Schamberger and the cast of Murder by Misadventure immediately after the show on Friday, April 15th for an informal Q&A session as they cover such topics as:
      • Which characters were the least likable and why?
      • The action play out believably.
      • Did you guess the ending?

As Alison says “A good thriller is like a rollercoaster ride. Fasten your seatbelts!”
