Arsenic and Old Lace
A hilarious black-comedy classic, Arsenic and Old Lace tells the story of Abby and Martha, two murderous old women who poison people and then have their nephew—who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt—bury the bodies! One of the funniest plays of all time, this always popular laugh riot is about the only thing more deadly than poison: family!

Delighted to be back treading Metro’s boards Always A Bridesmaid in 2020. My advice: don’t ever tell Martha that you have been “feeling lonely.”

Rachel Craft - Elaine Harper
Rachel has trained at The Arts Club (Vancouver), as well as The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and Ivana Chubbuck Studio in LA. Her theatre credits include Moonlight and Magnolias (Metro Theatre), The Vagina Monologues (Malthouse Theatre) and Side Effect (MKA Theatre, Melbourne Fringe Festival).

J.D. Dueckman - Mortimer Brewster

A few other credits include Cymbeline (Bard in the Valley), The Importance of Being Earnest (Chilliwack Player’s Guild).

Brad Felton - Mr. Gibbs
This is my first production at the Metro Theatre since 1987 and I’m happy to be here with these talented friends. I have done Panto, comedy, drama, opera and operetta. My background is in music, but I’ve found a love of acting in the last few years and am grateful I can pursue that with amazing people like these.

Hayden Clewes - Jonathan Brewster
Hayden is a passionate theatre actor and member of the board of directors at Metro Theatre. He studied fine arts at UBC and Exeter Cambridge. Avoiding a lucrative career in film, the theatre is where Hayden finds his passion. Credits include: Dracula (Dracula), Javert (Les Miserables), Scar (The Lion King), Christian (Cyrano) and Arthur (Camelot).

Dan Meredith - Officer O’Hara
Dan is excited to be part of Arsenic and Old Lace at the Metro Theatre. He has been involved in past shows such as Sleeping Beauty Wakes Up and The Pied Piper of Hamelin. When Dan isn’t on stage he is on the construction site as a Red Seal ticketed Trades worker. Dan would like to thank his partner and his family for all their love and support.

A man of the theatre in it for the love of the craft, when Garth saw Metro was staging Arsenic and Old Lace, he knew he wanted to be a part of bringing this delightful dark comedy to the stage.

Jon Morris - Mr. Witherspoon

The Production Team

Catherin Morrison – Director/Sound Designer
Catherine has directed at Metro Theatre since her days as a student at UBC. Her past plays are too numerous to list but include Noises Off, Enchanted April, The Odd Couple, and Shakespeare in Hollywood. Her most recent was last season’s Moonlight and Magnolias. She has also written 5 Pantomines, (directing 3 of them) and a children’s musical.

Alison Schamberger - Producer
Alison played Martha the last time Metro did this play. That and having worked with Cathy on numerous projects over the years made helping with this production a natural fit. She is of course happier on the stage than off, having last appeared in The Importance of Being Earnest.

Shay Cameron – Stage Manager
Shay was born in BC but moved early in life to southern Alberta, coming back years ago after graduating from the University of Lethbridge theatre program. In addition to working on shows here at Metro and other places, Shay likes to play the flute and other instruments.
