Metro Theatre is holding open auditions for SYLVIA

Where: Metro Theatre,
1370 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver
Synopsis:
Greg brings home a stray dog with a collar inscribed with the word ‘Sylvia.’ Having lived on the streets for a while Sylvia is very grateful for a warm, loving home. We are privy to Sylvia’s thoughts and feelings as this role is played by Kate, who vocalizes what the dog thinks and feels. Funny and touching, this play is for anyone who has ever discovered that a pet can become a family member. Oh, so quickly warm their way into our hearts
Show Run Dates:
Thursday to Saturday: April 15 to April 30, 2023
Sunday matinees are: April 16, 23 and 30
Characters Needed
2-male identifying; 2-female identifying

| Sylvia | female, an exuberant and beautiful lab/poodle mix – a stray looking for a new home |
| Greg | a middle age male, a restless empty-nester, tired of his job in finance, looking for meaning in his life |
| Kate | a middle age female, a busy rising star in the public school system |
| Tom, Phyllis, and Leslie | Played by the same actor |

Rehearsal period:
February through opening night;
two week nights and one weekend afternoon
Requirements
Auditions will be cold readings. The director will provide monologues.
Note: This is a NON-EQUITY production.
All roles at Metro Theatre, are Volunteer positions.
People will be seen on a first come/first served basis. Be prepared that you may have to sit around and wait as you may be needed to read opposite someone else who is auditioning.

AUDITION GUIDELINES
• No appointment necessary.
• If you are cast, you will be required to become a Member of Metro Theatre and your 12-month Membership Fee of $20 will be collected at the first read-through.
• It is expected that actors must be capable of playing the age specified, be capable of speaking with expected accents, be able to utilize musical and dancing skills, when the part requires those skills.
• While experience is preferable it is not essential.
