Help us Spread the Word – Metro Season 54 Brochure_2016-2017

 HAYWIRE by Eric Chappell

September 17- October 8   Thursday to Saturday

Matinees on Sunday September 25  &  October 2

A British farce in the best tradition: born out of believable characters trapped in ridiculous situations. Alec is planning a wonderful tryst in Marbella, Spain, with his assistant at the book-shop, while his wife goes off on a tour of the Netherlands and the tulip fields. Schedules are tight, but he is on track. Well… almost. A multitude of problems beset him from sundry members of his dysfunctional family. Witty and hilarious!

SENSE and SENSIBILITY  by Jane Austen (adapted by Jon Jory)

October 29 – November 19  Thursday to Saturday

Matinees on Sunday November 6 &  November 13

Jane Austen’s beloved novel has been beautifully adapted in this condensed version of her story. Two sisters, Elinor, and Marianne, handle love in very different ways, One ready to surrender all for love , throwing caution to the wind: and the other loves as deeply , but is more circumspect. Their reliance on each other mirrors many of Austen’s heroines and also her own (too short) life. The manners and morals of the late 18th century are explored in this timeless classic.

January 21 – February 11  Thursday to Saturday

Matinees Sunday January 29  &  February 5

A play for the whole family! This story is about the  close relationship between Izzy (Isabelle) and her grandmother (her Bubbie ). Izzy has an unrequited crush on a poet, but her grandmother has other ideas. Bubbie hires a matchmaker to arrange a meeting with a young a pickle-maker, to whom Izzy is attracted, but finds isn’t artistic enough for her tastes.   Will love bloom, and with whom?

GUILTY CONSCIENCE by Richard Levinson and William Link

March 4 – March 25  Thursday to Saturday

Matinees on Sunday March 12 & March 19

The protagonist in this thriller is a confident Manhattan lawyer, who has never lost a case and is anticipating a messy and expensive divorce from his wife. He walks and talks with the prospective “prosecutor” through a number of court-room scenarios, as he plans how to kill his wife and get away with it. The plot thickens (you knew it would) when his girlfriend gets involved.

STRAIGHT and NARROW by Jimmie Chin

April 22 – May 13  Thursday to Saturday

Matinees on Sunday April 30 &  May 7

Set in Manchester, this domestic comedy along the lines of a “Coronation Street”, involves a couple wrestling with the problems and pitfalls common to many : family (or lack of), hum-drum every-day life,  and mid-life crises. Bob and Jeff, share both a home and a Kitchen Reno business. A trip to Greece ruptured their relationship. Will Bob’s hilarious family help or hinder a reconciliation? Both funny and moving – at the same time.
