Sisters Elinor and Marianne find themselves captivated by two very different men in this lively and dynamic adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel. Sensible Elinor is charmed by the quiet, bumbling goodness of Edward, while passionate Marianne is swept off of her feet by the dashing and mysterious Willoughby. But when Willoughby’s scandalous past and Edward’s secret fiancé come to light, the sisters are forced to rely upon themselves and one another to weather their heartache — and learn that when sense and sensibility meet, love can’t be far behind.
Elinor, 20’s. Ruled by reason, mannered, contained, A witty control freak.
Marianne, Character is 17 can be played by actor up to 24 if young looking, ruled by Instinct, by her heart, & emotions; a bit wild.
Mrs. Henry Dashwood, 40’s, mother of Elinor and Marianne, kind, loving; a bit of a romantic.
Mrs John Dashwood, Late 20’s early 30’s. Manipulating, controlling, on her way up, snobbish. Full of wifely concern and vicious self- interest.
Mrs. Jennings, 60’s. Gossipy, well intentioned, rather vulgar, full of jokes and laughter.
Lucy Steele, 20’s, Coy and calculating, sly, selfish, insecure, shrewd.
Lady Middleton. 40’s, spoils her kids, elegant, little to say for herself. Also plays Mrs. Ferrars.
John Dashwood – mid 30’s Distinguished looking, weak minded, easily persuaded. Also plays Gardener.
Edward Ferrars– 27-35, quiet, a little gauche, Not handsome but sweet.
Sir John Middleton. 40’s. Kind/ good humoured/ expansive. Also plays Doctor.
Col. Brandon, Late 30’s. “A man thawing out after being in fridge for 20 years”
Willoughby, 20’s, good looking, graceful, good voice, gallant. A charm merchant.
Robert Ferrars, conceited 20s–30’s. Also plays Servant.

Director requests that you bring hard copies of your headshot and resume with you to the audition.
Notes: This is a NON-EQUITY production. People will be seen on a first come/first served basis, but be prepared that you may have to sit around and wait as you may be needed to read opposite someone else who is auditioning.

Private bookings may occur on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, for each performance week, with no more than one private booking per week. Please keep these days free to perform.
REHEARSALS begin SEPTEMBER and continue until Opening Night. If you are cast, you will be required to become a Member of Metro Theatre and your 12-month Membership Fee of $20 will be collected at the first read-through.
